Just purchased a new desktop with winXP. Have my old
desktop running winME. Was wondering what problems will be
if I get a external enclosure for the old hard drive unit
running winME and hook it by USB port to my new unit
running winXP.

What I am trying to do is avoid transfering my files to
the new computer.

IS THIS POSSIBLE or is there another solution?

You shouldn't have any problems with an external USB configuration.

Why don't you just install the old hard drive in the new PC?

Here's a "How to" article from PC World Magazine.

Once you install the old hard drive, just delete the Windows 98 folder =
on it.
