I was just upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP. In XP, the
text background for desktop icons should be transparent,
but in my case they are not. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Jim,
Right click on your desktop, select arrange icons by and make sure 'lock
web items on the desktop' does not have a check next to it.
If that does not help right click on my computer and view its properties.
Select the advanced tab and the settings under performance. On the visual
effects tab scroll down the list to the bottom and be sure that 'Use drop
shadows for icon labels on the desktop' is not checked.
Hope that helps

Right click "My Computer". Select "Properties". Select "Advanced" tab.
Select "Settings" button in the "Performace" group. Select "visual Effects"
tab. Scroll down and place a check in the "Use drop shadows for icon labels
on the desktop".
