I don't really have any apps that use the .NET framework, but it keeps
coming up in windows update. Are there any known issues with installing
this? Is it going to affect my system in any way, besides adding
another user to my machine without telling me ?

Hi Zack
If you don't use any programs that require it and don't want to use ASP.net
its not urgent to have just yet.
The only problem that I see that keeps coming up is if you automatically
logon, after installing v1.1 of the framework you won't anymore because
another user for the asp.net work process is created. To get automatic logon
back you would need to go to the run box and enter control userpasswords2
Then uncheck the box which reads 'Users must enter a username and password
to use this computer'.

Hope that helps

I think that Microsoft put it in the windows update because .NET framework
is the base for a new generation of applications

Yo don't need to install now, but maybe you will need in the future because
every day more and more peoples are adopting this technology as his primary
development environment.

..NET Framework 1.1 is a recommended update. If you do not want to be
reminded to install, just use the Windows Update, personalize option to not
show the update.

The .NET Framework 1.1 will do no harm. Just ignore the user account it
adds.
