Yes Office 97 works with XP. However you should check this info about
getting the spellchecker working with OE 6

Office 97 works fine with XP (make sure you use the last service release
.... called SR-1 or SR-2, I can't remember)

When I used Outlook Express 6 (I no longer do), spell checking worked
"out of the box" with no changes req'd.

I've seen one or two anomalies, such as documents created under Win95
running Office 97 that open with peculiar messages about the document
already being open by the user, clicking OK resulted in the document opening
without issue.

FYI, Office 97's Service Release 2 is the most recent update, but
its installation requires that SR-1 be installed first, so both are
necessary.

Yes. Even Office 95 will work (at least Word 95 and Excel 95
will; I have no experience with any of the other Office 95 apps).

No.
