I have downloaded 2600.2149.PlatformSDK_xpsp2_idw.img

Could somebody advise me what do I need to do to install
sp2 please.

Look like ms has released xpsp2 to the oems. You can no longer
download xp sp2 rc2.

Wait - probably not more than a week or two now for SP2 to be released.
That version is RC2 that came out quite a while back now, and you should
not use it any more
