I installed a new network card to set up a home network
between my two computers. Device manager tells me that
the network card is working correctly BUT also says that
the network cable is unplugged. It is not. I have
reinstalled the card twice and even got a new one and
installed it thinking the card was the problem. The IT
lady at work tested the network cable and it works there,
but not at home.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! I am ready to throw it all out
the window.

If you are connecting PC-to-PC, you will need to use a crossover cable
instead of a straight cable.
