Had 98
Upgraded to XP
Thunder and lightening.
Boom.
Had motherboard replaced and lost everything on hard
drive.
Had to restart XP upgrade but now I only have NotePad and
WoprdPad.
Lost, word, excel, P point, access, etc.
How do I get these appliacations back into XP?

Those applications do not come with XP, they are purchased stand alone or as part of Microsoft Office.

Hi, Clark.

How did you get those applications to start with? Notepad and WordPad are
included in all versions of Windows, but, as David B. said, Word, Excel,
etc., have never been a part of Windows itself. They can be purchased
separately or as Microsoft Office, an integrated suite. Access comes only
with the more expensive versions of Office.

At some point, you must have purchased Office or the individual component
programs. Do you still have those CDs? You should be able to install the
programs again from the original media. What versions of the programs did
you have? Office '97 and newer versions should work with WinXP.

Many computer vendors "bundle" programs with the hardware they sell. If you
acquired Office components in such a package, perhaps you can reinstall the
programs from CDs that came with your Win98 computer. My uncle bought a
Dell with WinME a couple of years ago; it came with Microsoft Works Suite,
which included Word (but not Excel, Access, or PowerPoint). Lightning
zapped the computer and he had to replace the whole thing! He bought a new
Dell with WinXP Home and an updated version of MS Works Suite already
installed, again including Word, but not the other Office components. I'm
mentioning this only as an example of what may or may not have been included
with your purchases.

Did your insurance policy cover damaged hardware and software? Perhaps you
should include a new Office suite in your claim.
