I have a desktop XP and a laptop 98se. I recently tried to
share a Lexmark printer on a peer to peer. The process
caused a problem with my modem on the laptop and I was
finally able to fix that. The XP desktop is a different
story. Western Digital diagnostics told me the system sub-
directory was gone and to re-place the harddrive. I
purchased a 120 Western Digital and I am trying to
install. I used Western software to set up the HD and when
I tried to load the OS it wouldn't work. It loaded all of
the drivers but when it went into loading windows I got
the error telling me the intialization failed and windows
is closing down. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

That type of problem is often faulty ram or faulty cdrom.
