Configuration:

One windows 200 desktop directly connected (ethernet) to a
Linksys BEFW11s4 V2 wireless router/access point
(802.11b). No Wep. No WPA. DHCP enabled. latest
firmware. Works perfectly.

One generic notebook with a Microsoft MN-720 PC card 54g
adapter. works perfectly.. can communicate with desktop
and connect to the broadband connection.

PROBLEM: Toshiba laptop (Satellite 1415-S115) will not
connect to the access point. It is also using another MN-
720 adapter. Windows is fully updated, no anti-virus, no
firewall... Wireless config settings are exactly the same
as the router's and the generic laptop.

Windows will detect the network and ask if i want to
connect even though the network is insecure. I
acknowledge, and click ok... yet it refuses to connect by
showing the same pop-up bubble by the network icon in the
system tray.

I have tried reseting the Winsock keys but to no avail.
I'm at the end of my rope here... I've spent 4 hours on
tech support. they couldn't help me. re-installed the
thing many, many times... I know the card works because I
put in my other laptop and it works fine.

What gives?

Hi,

I presume you made sure the cards drivers were all
installed properly ?? Some tiems the drivers "mostly"
install, but for some reason they do not quite "fully"
install. Go into device manager and update the drivers
manually.

Could also be that the card is broken in some way and you
need to RMA/Raplce it.
