Hi:
Hope this is the right forum/group. If it isn't please let
me know so I re-direct my question to the right place.

I need some help here. Somehow, somwehere I lost the Dos
function "xcopy". I get the error message Xcopy in not an
internal or external command.
Background. On my desktop I have WinXP home edition (oem)
with service pack 1 installed. On my Dell laptop I also
have WinXp home edition (oem) with service pack1
installed. Both versions of winXp have the same build
number. I'm running a lot of batch files that have copy
and xcopy in them. Copy command works fine. It's just I
wnat to save some typing and time by useing xcopy with
the /s option. On the laptop "xcopy works fine. On my
desktop it dosen't. Question - Where or how can I get the
xcopy function back. In the old days u had the command.com
file with all the DOS functions. Just copy back and forth.
In Win XP it's totally different. I have both original
WinXP cd's Where can I find this file or DLL or whatever
has the xcopy funtion in it. I could copy said file(s)
from my laptop if I only knew which one it is? I don't
exactly feel like re-installing the whole OS and Update or
patch everything. So can anybody offer me a clue? Thanks
in advance for the help

just copy the xcopy.exe file from one computer where it is available to the
other where it is missing.

the path is c:\windows\system32\xcopy.exe

i hope that helps.
