Now here is where all the members of the NG go, huh? When you post a
question such as that, please explain what you are doing when the non action
happens. Were you using Outlook Express? Maybe Messenger? Or were you trying
to FTP a file?

Please post back and explain the real problem.

When you look for help with a problem, you need to describe the
situation *exactly*.

So how did you try to send them? Using what program? What did you
do? What was the result? If you got an error message, please
quote it verbatim.

Sorry for my previous unclear question.

I have 2 computers. the old one is using Windows 98 2nd edition, the new one
is using Windows Xp home edition. Both 2 computers are using same ISP. In
the Windows Xp system, I can't send files through MIRC, and can't receive
files through MS Messenger. So, what can I do to solve thw problem?

Thanks

If you have a firewall, have you made sure the firewall isn't blocking it?

Thank for your reply.

I have enabled the firewall built in the Windows Xp. Also, the
Penicillin-2003 antivirus is running a firewall. The question is how to
configure the firewalls setting?

Regards

Usually, a firewall has a list of blocked applications. The XP firewall
isn't a factor because it doesn't block outgoing requests only incoming.
However, the other firewall may be blocking this function. I am not
familiar with your firewall's settings so I can't give specific instructions
and don't know where such information with regard to blocked access might be
located in the application. However, you might try to send a file as you
have tried in the past but first disable or otherwise turnoff your firewall
to see if you can then transmit.
