Hi

The Firewall can be turned off/disabled, AFAIK, it can't uninstalled - if
that is what you mean.

Hi

The XP Firewall can be turned off via Control Panel>Network Connections.
Right click on the appropriate connection, select Properties, Advanced tab
and then Settings. So long as you have a recognised 3rd party Firewall
installed you shouldn't get the pop-up warnings from the Security Center
about not being properly Firewalled.

Does Sygate free version qualify as "recognized"?

Hi

I'm not sure as I don't use Sygate. Have you contacted Sygate to see what
they have to say?

Sygate is a user friendly firewall and should certainly be a "recognized
firewall". As for me I prefer Zone Alarm Free.

I haven't used Zone Alarm for about three years. Back then, it was a
resource hog. Have they improved that?
