Can anyone help.
I have 2 PC's 1x Laptop 1x standalone, they both have
100mb ethernet cards, i have used a x connect cable from
1 to the other and run the Network Wizard, I am using ICS
on the standalone PC.

I have enabled file sharing and printer sharing on both
machines, each machine has 2 accounts for the same
people, set up as administrators.(NO LOGINS REQUIRED)

If i click on Network places in the laptop, it can see
itself and its own files only, if i do the same on the
standalone it sees only its own folders that have been
shared, if i try to look for the laptop it tells me that
i might not have the permission etc. the laptop can
access the internet through the Lan ok but nothing else,
they are both running XP Home sp1 software, if i run the
network diagnostic tests, all the IP tests fail.

I have a suspicion that it may be something to do partly
with XP's firewall, but beyond that i am stuck, help
appreciated, thanks.

Paul

Disconnect from the Internet if you have dial-up access. Turn off the XP
firewall on the two network cards connected to each other. Can you browse
the network then?
