Sp2 sure does use a lot more of your memory. So people
with 256Mb better get ready to install more memory!!!!!

This is normally how you figure out which software version
is newer, if you have no other method.

Bigger file on hard disk, uses more memory, uses more
other resources, overall runs more slowly(this one is
less true, sometimes bigger is faster).

I think its part of Murphy's law.

Not true. Personally I don't see any difference, actually many people have
said that it uses less memory.
Seems to me that you have a memory leak.

I've installed it on my desktop and notebook and have not noticed any
increase in memory usage. You may have something else consuming your
memory.

Same here, no increase in memory usage at all.

What are you basing that on?

For XP you want 512 or better for best results. A PC with 256 is
underpowered for XP.

Base on what facts? statistics?
Neither are good - it actually depends on what the PC/Laptop is to be used
for - basic day-to-day Office apps (email, internet surfing and office
documents) 256mb is plenty - especially if you have no more than 2 of these
apps open at once.

Its true. I find it harder to remember things everyday and I did install sp2
(no probbblems) but now I find I can hardly remeber any of the stuff I read
before I installed it.

*If* you mean RAM memory and not hard disk space, then SP2, just as
before tries to find *some* use for all RAM at all times, and will drop
trivial uses whenever there is need.
