View Full Version : XP SP2

I installed the XP SP2 update. Windows did not recognize my virus and
firewall program. It is System Suite which uses Trend virus detection. I
followed all the instructions and turned off the Windows firewall. I use a
cable connection to the internet and I could no longer get online no matter
what I did. I finally did a system restore and everything now works. What
went wrong and how should it be fixed if I want to install the update again?
Also, where do I find the upgrade on my computer or do I have to download it
again?

SP2 adds several security features and other that make
some third-party programs no longer work, so either find
and turn off the new security features, which are enabled
by default, or uninstall your virus scanner and firewall
and look at their sites for updates that will make them
compatible with SP2.

Check with Trend Micro for SP2-related compatibility updates, Jerry, and
install SP2 again. It's a good idea to disable your anti-virus application
and close all running programs before installing anything.
Is the machine a laptop?
