Xp and color choices

I've selected a background color in appearance settings for the window text
background. It's coming up fine in OE , but my lower window and the message
body window of my e-mail where I'm typing this is still showing pure white.
Is there a way to have these the same color as the window text settings?

Please disregard. The color came up on a reboot.
