Hi,

You can download power toys from Windows xp web site,
install that and run Tweak ui from the control panel.
there will be an option to enter ur name and password and
it logs automatically.

Hi,

Start/run control userpasswords2

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.

I see User accounts in the control panel-------in there I can change
the way users log on-------then I only see that I can uncheck the
welcome screen

I installed Tweak UI also---but I can't find anywhere to open it.

Hi Robin,

You don't want to use the Users applet in the Control Panel - you want to
run the command I listed: "control userpasswords2" (if you don't add the
numerical 2 at the end, then it only opens the regular Users applet).

Hello, so I unchecked "users must enter user name and passwort to use
this computer"
Then "apply"
Now there is a box "auto log on" username administrator----------if
I leave both password boxes blank and click "ok", I can reboot safely?

I got a program from xp-smoker.com that is supposed to alter the
login. Haven't tried it yet.

Hi Robin,

If you only have one account on your system (other than the guest account)
and it has no password then do the following:

Go to Start, Control Panel, User Accounts, select "Change the way users log
on or off", Check "Use Welcome Screen" and Uncheck "Use Fast User
Switching".

I realize this may seem counter productive if you're trying to get rid of
the Welcome Screen... :) but unchekcing "use welcome screen" is telling
Windows you want to use the Windows 2000 User Name & Password login.

The next time you start your computer you should go right to the desktop.
