Good morning,

I just loaded windows xp service pack 2 on a test laptop. The build went
fine and everything works execpt the tunnel software we use.

Well thats not exactly right the tunnel will connect and give me access
to companu email and the ablity to map to network drives but it will not let
me see company internal websites. I do have web access to all outside sites

We use Qwest dialup and Trek tunnel software (altavista) when connecting
remotley to company network.

When it trys to set the DNS address it errors out on the primay and sets a
secondary address. I belive this secondary address it for the qwest dialup
connection we use but I am not really sure that is the case.

I have opened the following port

6666 for altavista tunnel
80 for browser use and because it was suggested.
23 for Telnet

I really need to work this out as service pack 2 will be every place soon.

Any help would be greatly appreicated
Thanks

I have an idea. Windows xp SP2 turns on Windows Firewall (WF)
automatically (by defualt). Turn WF off, briefly, and test to see if
Qwest dialup and Trek tunnel software now function as expected.

If they do, then you are correct in pursuing making port exceptions.
If they do not, then the problem isn't with the firewall, look elsewhere,
as perhaps there is a conflict with a different area of the SP2 upgrade.

Stephen
