Possibly this (see link) is why some folks are having problems with
SP2.

they have a bit about spyware and clean out your machine
for faster performance. well spyware is 'wild-tangent'
games.and they want you to update it to work .and back web
too. what a joke.

HP/Compaq use such proprietary hardware and customised system modules
that I regard them as a permanent risk for installing anything
