XP SP2, Guest account access even when Guest is disabled

Why does XP SP2 enable the Guest login when the Guest account shows disabled
in the Control Panel | User Accounts, but does not allow a Guest to actually
log in to the XP system?

The failed attemps show up in the Windows XP SP2 Event Viewer - Security
log, and there has been many of them on my XP SP2 systems.

The Windows XP SP2 Event Viewer - Security log also shows many access logins
from a Microsoft Remote Services account. Why?

Windows XP SP2 Security Center shows the following:

Firewall - ON
Automatic Updates - ON
Virus Protection - ON

If I do my second XP SP2 computer and try to access my first XP SP2 system,
the Guest login prompt shows where the Guest username is grayed out and I
enter a password. I found that the Guest password "password" worked for a
while until a Security log entry shows an update on the Microsoft Remote
Services account.

Does the Guest account in XP SP2 have a security flaw?

All I can say is the whole security set of words,
phrases, and usage could not have been made more
meaningless to the layman if they tried to design it that
way.

Most of the settings are a guess to entrupt, a trail and
error to use, and when you see a log entry it is liske a
mystery from the deep blue lagoon.


They were obivously created by teckno freaks with a sq /
eq rating of a carpet monkey, over the years,
accupulating here in 2004 like a collection of grafii
from the hey days of the "We can do no wrong" punks.


It a mess beyound meaning and no one outside MS knows if
it is working or not.

You can't, but in Control Panel-Uses and Accounts you can disable it.
