After sooooo many times re-formatting, fresh install of XP, installation of
SP2 from windows updates, and failing to make the system works
properly........I found the way!
1-Unplug the internet connection cable.
2-Fresh install of XP
3-Make an image (Drive Image) just in case.
4-Install SP2 (previously downloaded)
5-install firewall and antivirus software.
6-Make another image. Also just in case.
7-Connect internet cable.
8-Voila!!!!!!! It works
It seems that installing from microsoft site directly does not work for some
unknown reasons (at list unknown by me). I hope this work with others.

Well, as you know Rog, M$FT issued SP1 to correct the
screw-ups in Windows XP. Then they issued SP2 to correct
the screw-ups in SP1. Whad'ya think they'll call the next
screw-up fixer? Then... here comes Longhorn. Oh, Boy!!!!
