strange icon on xp

every so often an icon with the name ~ with a line under
the ~ appears on my desktop.Under properties it says type
of file "file" Description ~. Location: C:\Documents and
settings\owner\desktop. It is always 178KB, will not open
and is checked archive. Does anyone know what it is
deleting does not work it comes back.

Hi Thomas,

This happens when you make a change and/or view the Address Book. You can
either rename it with a .dbx extension or delete it. It came about from
the updates numbered: 331923 and 330994. MS is aware of the issue and are
working on it.
