mouse doesn't work

Since installing XP, there are times when my mouse
doesn't work. I went out and bought a new one, but the
problem of not working has now happened at least one
other time.

Is the solution reinstalling a mouse driver? If so, what
driver? A MS mouse driver? Where to get?

Perhaps reinstalling the driver may help...
