View Full Version : Explorer not working after SP2 install

Explorer (ie My Computer / Internet explorer / etc etc)
seems to be crashing after I install SP2.

If I try to use any application that uses the explorer,
it wipes my screen clean and re-runs.

Fortunatly I don't need a Explorer box to do a system
restore.

Any Ideas?

A number of folks reporting very similar problems with
Windows explorer in the last week.

Try booting in safe mode, does it work there?

Try creating a new user, switch to that, does it work there?

Each of these seem to be work-arounds for some, not for others.
Report back what works and what doesn't, maybe we can find a
pattern in this.

You can escalate this to MS, go to
support.microsoft.com/windowsxpsp2
and give them all the clues and patterns you have seen.

Enough have seen very similar problems that this seems
likely to be at least one or two bugs causing this.

Will do. Its a pain, as I have to re-install it first,
then go back to the previous resore point and get rid of
it before coming here to post. Ha!

Hi

If you have DivX installed, uninstall it and see if it helps...
