I just installed SP2 and I download a lot of genealogy
files from the internet. When I did this last I got a new
dialog box asking to 'open' or 'save' the file. I checked
the box 'do not show this box' again and then hit the
wrong button 'open'. now I can't save files, how do I get
this dialog box back to change it so I can save files I
download

Right-click the link to the file and select "Save target as..."

Jon: That is a work around. I want to know how to get the
original dialogue box back so I can fix it to save my
downloads!

Go to Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types. Look for the
extension concerned, highlight, click Advanced, and check the box
'Confirm open after download'
