Windows xp does not take up that much room. (I don't have office).
I only using about 4.00 G.B. I have four partitions.

I have a 40 gb. All partition fat32.

1-windows 98se
2-windows xp
3-Shared (No actual installed programs)-Just free agent
4-Backup

FWIW, I also use 4 volumes, as follows:

C: (7.9G FAT32 primary) OS, apps, pagefile, temp
Extended partition, containing:
D: (2G FAT16) data
E: (largeG FAT32) "everything else"
F: (2G FAT16) backups and cold storage

A 7.9G FAT32 C: is fine for OS, Office, etc. but won't be if you let
large games and CDs install there, leave multiple user's IE web cache
set to the outrageously large defaults, and leave your data, pictures,
music and videos on C: as well.

But if you sort those issues out (TweakUI is your friend when it comes
to relocating the "My ..." ghettos off C: for safety) then a FAT32 C:
that is just under 8G is nice, because the 4k cluster size perfectly
fits the processor's natural paging size.
