I'm having a few problems with IE6. The problems started when I ended
up with spyware in my computer. I have been running spybot and
ad-ware to get rid of all of that stuff. IE6 is not loading all pages
completely, it leaves out important information such as download
buttons and the information in drop down menus in web pages such as
the microsoft knowledge base search page. The microsoft windows
update page that automatically checks your computer for any updates
you may need will not load at all (I just get a blank page). This is
also true for other pages. Many, if not all, Java scrips will not
run. I have tried to reinstall IE6 SP1 and it tells me it can't
because it detected a newer version on my computer. I followed the
instructions in knowledge base article 318378 to work around this
problem and it did not work. I still got the same error message. I
don't know if these other problems that didn't start at the same time
are a cause or symptom of the IE6 problem. When I start the computer
I recieve a "general protection falt error" and I am prompted to
"delete file" but it does not tell me what file. Also Windows media
play will not run. I downloaded and installed WMP 10 thinking that it
would fix that problem, but it didn't.

Any Idea what is going on here?

Thanks,
Jim

A little more info that I forgot. I have downloaded and installed
SP2. I did prep my computer before doing so and I am not having any
of the problems other are having with this update other than it hung
up on the initial reboot after installation. Microsoft website said
that ment I should update my BIOS. I did that and reinstalled SP2 and
it still hung on the initial reboot. Please note that the problems
with IE6 started before I installed SP2 which I had hoped would fix
the problems.
