I had Norton Antivirus 2000 on my Windows 98SE computer. Is it
compatible with Windows XP? Thanks.

No! Uninstall it before you try to upgrade. Then, get the latest version of
"any" decent antivirus software!

Only NAV 2002 and above are compatible with XP out of the box. I don't
think you can make other versions work with XP. The following link will tell
you what Symantec support says about versions of NAV previous to NAV 2002:

No, but.... When I ran into this same issue in January, I discovered that I
could buy the new version of Antivirus from Amazon for $0 after rebates.
Symantec gave me a rebate and so did Amazon which added up to the total
purchase price.
I don't know if they're still doing this but it's worth checking.

Or you can get AVG free anti virus which has worked great for me. Check it
out at www.grisoft.com
and while your at it...another freebie is a firewall- www.zonelabs.com
for zonealarm firewall....these both are great.
