Having installed Windows XP Home SP1, I find that programs that worked fine
before now require me to run them with Administrator rights (eg
synchronizing with a Sony PDA).
Being a good boy, I set my XP installation up with an administrator id
(which I use for program installation) and a number of 'limited' ids. This
means that my internet access is from limited ids (except when updating
XP!), which should be more secure than having every id with admin rights -
which is the default. I have tried logging on as Administrator and changing
the permissions on the Program Files folder but the change does not work
(i.e.,
it reverts to its former state of read-only).
This is driving me up the wall! Is there a (reasonably simple) solution?
