View Full Version : Welcome Screen with SP2

The following question has been asked before by another correspondent but I
don't think it has been answered satisfactorily. I would welcome a response
from one of those helpful and authoritative MVPs.

Since installing SP2, the Welcome Screen no longer shows my name - i.e.to
logon. (NB I am the only user and have administrator rights.) Can someone
please tell me how to turn this back on (with a fanfare possibly!)??

I tried using TweakUI > Logon ( via
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp. ) but
noticed the entry was qualified by the statement "Version 2.10 requires
Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003" which seems to deny me, a
SP2-er, its use.

Thanks in advance.

Start/Run
Type "control userpasswords2" ENTER
Place a check by "Users must enter..."
Click OK.

Thanks for the reply. Will it be OK to follow your advice even though I
don't have, nor wish to create, a user login password for my account?

Further to my last post, I already have a check by "Users must enter .." so
your advice clearly won't/doesn't solve the problem.

You can leave the password blank thus all you would need to do is
click the account and in you go.
You could try Tweak UI, it should work with SP-2.
