No, I haven`t come across this. Have you updated the driver?

On my machine...the audio input driver is gone...and only the wave output
device is selectable in sounds & audio devices > audio > sound recording. It
does take input but it sounds like a pack of rabid coyotes in a battle royal.
[Using onboard C-Media 8738] I've tried several sets of drivers from
different locations...no help.
On my friend's machine his Phillips PSC-705 dissappeared completely. And
we've had the most terrible time installing his Ati 9600xt All-in-Wonder.
Reboots galore and a hodge-podge of Blue Screens. All with crazy error
messages.

I had a similar problem after installing SP2 but it did not correct itself
after returning to SP1 (through Add/Remove Programs). My Display adaptor
was missing and I could not detect the modem properly. More details are in
my post .

I too have lost all my devices from Device Manager and also all my
network connection icons. I have thought of reinstalling XP but as
everything works OK I will leave it for the moment. I fear I may not
be able to add any new devices.

My modem doesn't show up, but shows up in system information
