Temporary User Profiles

A friend has a NT4 server network. I added 3 new XP PCs
to his network/domian like I always have everywhere else.
However, when a user logs in, XP says it cannot create the
local profile so it is creating a "temporary user
profile". What is going on? Microsoft KB says this
happens becuase there is an error, but they do not
indicate what the error may be. Any ideas?
