I have recently installed Windows XP SP2 on my home PC, running XP Home and
my Laptop, running XP Professional.

On both machines I have noticed during the boot-up process that the
Microsoft XP start page does not say 'Home' or 'Professional' any longer. Is
this normal? The system seems to working fine though.

On my laptop, however, I also now have a problem with one of the driver
files (brsvc01a.exe) for my Brother HL-1450 laser printer.... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance to all for your advice.

Frank;
Microsoft has standardised the boot page of the 4 versions of windows
XP by removing the specific version.
This is normal.

Go to Brother and get the latest windows XP driver.
Also verify compatibility with SP-2.
