I have a windows 98 system with a directly attached HP
printer. The system is networked and the printer is
shared. Spooler is set to 'Start printing immediately'
and printing a multipage file starts as soon as the first
page is spooled.
A Win XP Pro system on the network has this printer
available; its spooler setting are also 'Start printing
immediately'. However, all pages of a multipage print
have to be sent across the network before the remote
printer starts up. I have tried setting the printer in
the XP system to 'print direct to printer' with no change
to the symptom. I can see the individual pages arrive in
the print spooler on the Win 98 system.
I only noticed this because I am working on a database
problem where the multipage print on the XP machine takes
about 20 seconds to print each page.
Any help gratefully received.
