Hi all,
After the instalation of SP2, "my" boot screen cant display "professional"
and release date "1985-200... microsfot corp"
is a problem?, any idea about?
If a change the boot screen from another SP1a XP?
This is only one error after upgrade to SP2, in Event Viewer all are clean
Secutiry teamplate running is HISECWS.INF
Best Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Microsoft took the decision to standardise their boot screens with
SP2, now all editions of XP will have the same boot screen. Hence the edition
is no longer displayed.

Hello,
This is by Design... With SP2 you don't have Professional or Home during
boot screen just XP, but if you have to press ctrl+alt+del to log on you
will notice that the windows says windows xp professional...

It's not an error. It's a "feature."
Google "sp2 boot screen" you'll see conversations on the topic in many
different forums. There is much speculation and conjecture regarding the
thinking behind that change. I haven't seen an "official" explanation.
My personal theory is they forgot. :-)

The change reduces the testing footprint for the various Editions of Windows
XP. So with a common boot screen the test matrix does not require unique
testing of screens for all of the possible Windows XP Editions.
Personally I am surprised that such a big deal is being made about what to
the end user amounts to a cosmetic change to a screen that only appears for
few seconds during the odd times they reboot their systems.

Me too.
OTOH if that's enough of a problem to cause a stir, the rest of the update
process must have been pretty uneventful. :-)
