Please Help! My computer will not shut down and
therefore it will not save my settings. It gets stuck on
the screen that sayd windows is now shutting down. We
have recently changed from ME to XP. Any help would be
appreciated.

While at the Windows desktop, place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup
screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility." This check may give a
clue as to the source of the problem. Since you've just upgraded from ME to
XP there may be some hardware or software compatibility issue that is the
cause.
If this turns up nothing, check the Event Viewer to see if you see events
corresponding to when this issue occurs. If yes, double click the event as
it might contain information that points to the source of the issue. To
access Event Viewer, open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open
Event Viewer.
