I am helping a friend who has a system that runs on xp
pro. The pc no longer will complete the boot up process.
Their is a post beep and you get the splash screen for xp
pro loading and then nothing, it goes black. No error
messages or anything. He said the only thing he did the
last time he used it was empty out his deleted folder in
outlook. The first time he restarted he said he got some
error message, but wasnt sure what it was. I have not been
able to repeat or see any error messages. Since then I
have updated the bios and motherboard drivers, put his HD
in my pc and scanned for viruses and disk errors. I tried
to use recovery twice, once back a week and the other back
one month from the trouble. I then formatted and
reinstalled xp pro and the same thing happens. I am able
to boot to safe mode with no trouble. I can find no
hardware conflicts of any kind. Any idea of what I can do
next?

Mike, it maybe a Power Supply problem. What wattage rating is his PSU.
