View Full Version : Video card question

I have Win XP Home, and will be replacing my video card tomorrow.
Presently, there is a NVIDIA GeForce440MX 64 MB installed, and I am putting
in a Verto GeForce FX5200 128 AGP card.
My question is: I believe I delete the card from Device Manager, then
delete the NVIDIA windows display drivers from Add/Remove before shutting
off the PC and switching cards?
I've checked the NVIDIA website and Dell support, but neither one mentions
doing this, only the physical installation of the card.
Any advice appreciated

You have got it right. If you dont remove the drivers your new card will
not function right.

CB,
you can remove the old drivers from Add/Remove Programs if there are newer
drivers available from NVidia.
But, if you have the latest driver package available installed then you do
not need to remove them. The only
thing you should really have to do is shut down your computer, remove the
old card, place the new card, and
boot up your system. Windows XP is a plug-n-play OS and NVidia uses unified
drivers, so you should not
have to do anything in the device manager.
