Hello Andrew,
Norton finding 8 viruses on the system is good to find out. The problem is
that they have probably done whatever they are going to do to the system.
In your case the virus has probably attacked the registry. I suggest you
backup any important data (like resumes, saved game files, school work,
etc) and install Windows to a freshly formatted drive. Once that is done
make sure to install your anti-virus software and update it often to keep
this from happening in the future.
