Speaker Problems

My speakers do not work. My volumes are turned up Mute
buttons are disengaged,.all audio setting are working
fine, and yes,..all connections are secure. Does anyone
have any idea as to what may be the problem ? Windows
media player is opening the files,..mp3's mpeg's etc, just
no sound coming out. Help ?!!
