I have installed SP2 and after one or two false alarms it appears to be
running without conflict.
I run Norton Anti-virus and ZoneAlarm.
I believe that ZA was considered superior to XP + SP1 but does it provide
better protection than the SP2 package? or can I run both of them?

The windows xp firewall still does not monitor outbound connections, like ZA
does, so keep ZA and turn the xp firewall off.

Hello Leonperrins:

In my opinion only the New Windows Firewall can improve best protection
firewall to you PC.
Windows firewall have a powerfull configuration, to change IP scope,
programs to get access and much more.
Also the ZA have so many bugs of security.
To get more informations about Windows Firewall visit the Microsoft Web site:

What bugs does ZA have? Can you provide info and links.
The xp firewall does not monitor outbound connections for trojans or spyware
like ZA does. Almost any firewall that does outbound and inbound is better
than the inbound only xp firewall.

Me

totally agree. And what does "in my opinion" mean. Is that based on one
person's view or widespread research?

Your response was so stupid you decided to post it twice?

I'd say that in my opinion means that persons view, but hopefully they did
enough research to state a valid opinion. Seems like the user saying the xp
firewall is better has not done their research.

I don't know who you are either, Sheila Nelson, but
everything is relative. If it weren't for rude and mean
and nasty and unkind people, angels like you would lose
their distinctiveness. So perhaps you should thank me.

ZA provided additional protection against malware 'phoning out' and is
also easier to use. The latest version will in any case turn the
Windows one off as it loads, and it would be adding nothing to what ZA
provides. The windows one is to provide a basic level of protection to
those who do not know about getting anything else
