View Full Version : Making an XP + SP2 install CD

I have XP Pro (original not SP1) and now have the SP2 corporate installer
(256Mb) which I used to update my PC and laptop offline in one easy upgrade.
I am about to reformat and rebuild my PC and want to know if there is any way
I can make my own installation CD which will install XP Pro and SP2 in one
go, or should I stick with the plain install and come back and do XP2
afterwards before I get onto installing all the other programs I have.
Basically looking to make my own XP+SP2 CD but not by going out buying it
again as I have bought it once :)

There are a number of applications out there that can help you
slipstream your SP2 into an original XP CD. I have used nLite from
http://nuhi.msfn.org/ a number of times to do this, it works quite well.

Hi Tony,
I find this link to be most informative.

I haven't looked at the instructions on the above link, but here's
another one:

I just made slipstreamed XP Pro and Home disks following the directions
from the link above. It was dead simple and worked beautifully.

I used AutoStreamer, available here:
http://mhtools.knoware.nl/raptor/autostreamer/AutoStreamer.zip
to create an ISO image of my original XP CD with SP2. It is fast and
simple.
Then I used DeepBurner to burn the ISO image to CD.
www.deepburner.com
Works great.

You can do - one way is at http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=7262
Whether it is worth it just for one use, compared with installing in the
regular way and immediately running SP2, is up to you - but it does help
if you should want to do a repair reinstall
