Hi,

Please find below how to reinstall windows update ..
Also take a look at the following URL:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

How to reinstall Windows Update
================================

- Double click on My Computer, and then double click on
Drive C.

- Double click "Program Files" folder, and then double
click the
"WindowsUpdate" folder.

- Highlight the "V4" folder, then click Edit from the
menu bar at top of
the window and choose Invert Selection. If you cannot
locate the "V4"
folder, please skip this step, and then continue to delete
the rest of the
files by choosing Select All instead of Invert Selection.

- Once all of the other files are highlighted, simply
hit the Delete key
to delete these files.

- Next we need to delete all the files & folders within
the V4 directory
except the "iuhist.xml" file. To do so, perform the same
steps as above by
highlighting the "iuhist.xml" file, then clicking Edit
from the menu bar at
top of the window and choose Invert Selection.

- Once these other files are highlighted, again hit the
Delete key to
delete the files.

Lastly we removed the Windows Update ActiveX controls by:

- First search for the 'iuctl.dll' and 'iuengine.dll'
files by clicking
Start, then click "Search" / "For Files or Folders".

- Once these files are found, delete them from your
system's
"C:\Windows\System32\dllcache"

- Next, delete any other copies of these files from any
other folder
except from the "C:\Windows\System32".

- Then delete these files from the "C:\Windows\System32"
once all other
copies of these files have been deleted.

- When prompted by System File Protection to insert the
Windows XP
installation CDROM chooses Cancel (These files will be
reloaded with newer
version than on your CDROM by the Windows Update Site).
Lastly, click the
Yes button when prompted to "Keep these unrecognized files
versions".
