I used to fax just fine. All of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. I do not
know what changes I made but obviously something happened. I reinstalled the
fax service from the disk. However, I cannot configure the fax. The error
message "fxscInt.exe is not a valid Win32 application." If I try to fax out
of Word, it says "Fax server information cannot be retrieved". If I try to
run Faxsend.exe, if be "fxssend.exe - bad image"error message. I also
restored my system to a time when I used the fax but that didn't work either.
I double checked that my modem, PCtel Platinum is compatable. The query in
the diagnostics seems to work alright. Device status is "working properly".
What more should I do????
frustrated and 10 hours poorer...

The symptoms you are describing seem to indicate more of a hard disk
corruption of some kind. Can you do a chkdsk and try other files you have?
Like other executables or browsing your text files, any word processor files
etc.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes I've run the chkdsk. Every time I do it
says "deleting corrupt attribute record <48, ''''">. But, it does it
everytime I do it even if I run the chkdsk 5 times in a row. As far as other
programs, it seems that I am able to open everything I usually use, Word,
Excel, Access, and others. I am able to browse through my files using
Windows explorer.
Still stumped.
