email address filled in for me

when I click "new post" to send a message here, under the
heading "Sender's E-mail" which is me! the line is
already filled in
with " Before I can
even post my question I need to know if you all out there
can contact me. Do I delete this line and fill in my
email address. If I leave as is, will I still be able to
be contacted?

You are apparently using the web-based interface for this forum. The
administrators of that service defaults the email address to that so
that when you post, the email is thus disguised. This prevents spammers
and people who distribute computer viruses in email from getting your
email address. Read more at

You get feedback from your posts not by email, but by going back and
looking who replied in the "thread".

The web-based method of accessing this newsgroups has many shortcomings
due to the nature of the user interface. I urge you to use a
client-side newsgroup reader, e.g. Outlook Express which is already on
your machine. when you set this up, disguise your email address.

DO NOT give your real email address in newsgroups--unless you want to
receive huge amounts of unwanted spam, lots of which is virus-laden. If you
need an answer, request that answers be posted to the group. These can be
found by going to View>Current View>Show Replies to My Posts .
