I think if you upgrade in the same partition, then there is an option of
"un-installing" and returning to your original OS

Make sure that you don't convert to NTFS though. Leave your drives as FAT32
or you won't be able to 'uninstall' XP.

The best option is to use an imaging program like Norton Ghost 2003, Drive
Image 7, or the low cost Image http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/imagew.html
to create a full system backup of your current Me system before you do the
upgrade to XP. That way you can easily restore the entire system at any
point back again to it's exact state prior to the upgrade. These programs
will burn directly to CD-R or CD-R/W.
All 120 day trials of XP are the Pro version. If you do the upgrade and
decide that you want to keep XP you can purchase the XP Pro Upgrade Version
and run it as an upgrade overtop of the 120 day trial. That will remove the
time bomb. Or you can purchase a XP Pro Full retail version and do the same
but the Upgrade version costs less. You can not use the XP Home version to
upgrade a 120 day trail.

You try Windows XP for 120 days I think your question will be how to get rid
of Windows ME

Nonsense. If the application you need to use runs better on ME than XP then
ME is the only OS to use. Or hardware for that matter.

And what application might that be?

Many thousands of applications that run perfectly on Windows 95/98/SE/ME but
simply will not run on 2000 or XP. If you expect me to list them for you you
are out of luck.
Same with hardware. Most works, some does not.
It just depends on what people are willing to throw out in order to upgrade
to XP.

Well I'm not going to argue with you but I haven't had a single problem with
XP in the 2+ years that I've been running it. I can't say the same for 9X in
the 5+ years I was running it. Prior to that I was running non Microsoft
OS's. My friends and relatives tell me they've had pretty much the same
experience as mine with XP.
As far as hardware I've helped friends install XP on some really old
computers with very out of date hardware and most hardware problems are
correctable (without throwing anything out).
I will admit there are some very old or poorly written programs that will
just not run on XP, and I'm sure those probably do number in the thousands.

Well, you made yourself out to be somewhat of a liar since XP hasn't =

And you sir made yourself look somewhat stupid! I joined the Windows XP

How does that make me look stupid? You said what you did, and did not =
specify. But your arsed screwed mind thinks that everyone who sees your =
posts, somehow knows that you were involved in the beta runs of XP, I =
guess you were involved with the 98 beta aslo, since you stated you had =

I did not say Beta, I said Preview. I did not say 98, I said 9X. I believe
you rest my case.
This will be my last post to you since I do not to engage in a battle of
wits with the unarmed.

Whatever, this simply makes you a liar playing a lamer with words, "I =
said preview, not beta" LMAO! What's the difference anyway. You said two =
years without specifying, this makes you wrong without doing so. Anyway, =
all you did to the OP was serve him up a dose of your XP fanaticism!

You said Beta. "somehow knows that you were involved in the beta runs
of XP".
The beta runs ran longer then the Public Previews. The PP's didn't
start until Release Candidate was available. The beta testers used
pre-RC versions.

ME is ****, period. Rather Win98 SE. I believe the reply to the original
message was speaking for the general public. I would love to see a program
that required ME to run better.

You cannot put a period on anything. I have a system that after upgrading to
XP, I returned it to Me; because Me was a better choice in the situation. I
would not recommend Me as a replacement for 98 SE, but when Me works, it is
a very viable choice. Most systems that shipped with Me, are usually
compatible with XP, but there will be a big financial hit to replace soft
and hard ware not compatible with XP.
