SP2 +Sys Restore + Sys32 dll stop

XP PRO - installed on HP hardware...XP SP2 downloaded & Sys Restore will not
respond + task-bar notification erratic. Folowed advice of Kelly/Rock and
tried to re-implement system restore from MS XP-PRO CD using 'rundll32.exe
advpack.dll launchINF Section C:\windows\Inf\sr.inf'

....Install looked for file sr.sys on SP2 "CD" however have downloaded SP2
and so navigated to download files path but have failed.

Any ideas??? HP support says "Dunno!"

C:\Windows\i386 has the file. i386 is the SR2 install repository.

Nah...not what I need! Can I dump all of my first SP2 download & start again?

How do I flush it out totally...Update detects it's downloaded and launches
from the resident; I'd like to completely download again.

I show it in:

C:\Windows\Prefetch

& C:\System

& \software distribution ...etc.etc.etc.

The former cannot e associated or opened/run.

It sucks!
