Hi Folks

Right after the SP2 update, my home/office computer that I use for a gateway
would not execute
any programs. I can browse the computer but when I click on an executable
the hour glass works
for a few seconds but the programs do not execute. It is necessary to
shutoff the computer to reboot to
normal function. The problem has been happening RANDOMLY for 3 days
consecutive since the upgrade.
There is nothing in the logfiles indicating problems. I have found after
executing one or more executables
or task manager etc, all programs execute about 20 minutes later together.
The computer was in good health before the update, firewalled, scanned for
viruses/spyware etc.
90% of the time the server is used for providing internet to the network,
the other 10% is for normal use.

Any ideas ??

Did you go to the Gateway site and check for info on your
computer before installing the SP2 update? I have seen
several computer manufactures telling their customers NOT
to install SP2 because it will conflict with their units.

Ooops as gateway not from gateway...long day but may
still apply. Some motherboard manufactures too.

The Motherboard is a Asus P2B-F, I had a look at the Asus site and did not
find any references related to SP2
conflicts. If the motherboard is causing incompatibility with the operating
system, perhaps the next update will come
bundled with a new Motherboard??
I guess I will have to uninstall the update, so I can use the computer as a
last resort............
