Windows suddenly appearing

For 2 days a window appears periodically with the title Reminder followed by
the date and time. The window looks like an internet explorer window when
the page cannot be displayed. I cannot resize it or close it (except with
Cntl-Alt-Del) and the links don't work. It happens even when I don't have
any applications running. Any ideas? Thank you.

I believe that its a nefarious program, collectively known as Spy-ware.
Detect and remove with Ad-ware
