I just purchased some software that requires that I
enter the serial number of Windows XP. Since my computer
came with XP already loaded, I don't know where to look
for the serial number. I can't get the software to work
without it. Any suggestions?

You should have received documentation on the software. Did you receive the
Windows XP disc? You might even have a sticker somewhere on the computer
that has that information you seek. If you have nothing, contact the place
where you purchased the computer.

Hi Jeanne,
I think the software you are installing is asking for its own serial number
not the windows XP serial number.

The serial number for the software should be on the CD cover, on the
accompanied user manual.

Seno

It's very unusual for software to ask for Windows XP serial number.
Re-read the installation instructions and check that it's not asking for
the serial number for itself (probably in the manual or on the product's
CD case).

If it really want's the XP serial number then you can probably find it
on a sticker on the computer's side. However, I would really wonder why
this required.

Try a search on Google. There is an utility to do just this. Used it but
forgot what it was. In fact a search on xp will give you a treasure dove.
